How it started…

2020, Lockdown.

The First Lockdown was a pivotal time for me. Amongst the daily PE with Joe, homeschooling my four children and a limit on connection with friends and the wider family, I was able to dedicate time to create. It became essential to have that time.

Before 2020 I embroidered, had stalls at Christmas fairs & craft fairs and sporadically ran workshops, teaching the craft. A friend text out, hoping a few of us creatives could gather and encourage each other creatively, I was all for that, and we began our weekly Friday morning Zoom calls. I was always inspired by each one and took to experimenting with my craft. I’m a lover of paper and used this as a new medium for me to embroider on.

We kept meeting on zoom and formed a collective, Wild Vision Collective, with plans to curate an exhibition of art created in lockdown by local artists, amateurs and professionals alike.  Alongside growing what we did as a collective, I got bold and submitted an artwork for The Baltic’s open call. It was accepted and even sold. It was a great boost to my confidence, that others were enjoying what I was creating!

In 2022 I took a big step and acquired a studio, who knew I had so many art supplies dotted all over the house! I won’t bore you with all the details as you’ll find all the exciting things I’ve worked on since on the Work page of the website.

The last five years have been crazy and brilliant, filled with many opportunities to learn and grow! And I’m still very thankful for Claire Harrison sending the text that started it all!
